Job Summary:

As a key member of the Wood team, the Lead Estimator will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and profitability of our projects. This position requires a strong understanding of estimating techniques and systems, as well as excellent project management and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain accurate project estimates, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and Wood policies.
  • Lead and manage the project estimating team, providing guidance and support to ensure the development of high-quality estimates.
  • Act as the focal point for estimating support to the project/contract team and client, managing communications and interfaces essential for the delivery of estimates.
  • Ensure the maintenance of systems, processes, procedures, and standards within the estimating team.
  • Identify areas for improvement and drive continuous improvement within the estimating team.
  • Ensure cost estimates are documented and auditable, and that project estimating norms and estimating data are maintained and issued in a controlled manner.

Requirements:

  • Typically requires an ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience).
  • Progressive industry experience in estimating positions, with a thorough knowledge of estimating techniques and systems.
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles and techniques, including Cost Management, Change Control, Planning & Risk Analysis & Management.
  • Prior experience in a Senior Estimating role and managing a team.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Wood Values, Visions & Behaviours.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use estimating methods.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Effective organization & planning skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Uses initiative, experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to guide, mentor & lead others.
