About the Role

We are seeking a volunteer to support our Independent Education Appeal Panels. As an Independent Appeal Panel Member, you will hear school admission appeals on behalf of parents and pupils where a place has been refused at their preferred school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hear school admission appeals and make fair, balanced, and objective decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with other panel members to achieve successful outcomes for all parties involved.
  • Attend training sessions to understand the rules of school admission appeals.
  • Conduct appeal hearings via Microsoft Teams.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are interested in education and want to get involved.
  • Have excellent listening skills and can put people at ease.
  • Have the time to offer and can commit to attending panels.
  • Are willing to undergo training to understand the rules of school admission appeals.
  • Enjoy remote working and have the necessary equipment to conduct appeal hearings.
