A highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineering Leader is sought for a pivotal role within the Somerset division of a global specialist equipment manufacturer. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee 'Mechanical Engineering' initiatives across various projects, ensuring cohesive and collaborative efforts among teams to achieve project milestones and successful completions.
  • Promote and implement best practices in mechanical engineering throughout projects to enhance the engineering function's delivery in terms of time, cost, quality, and specifications, while ensuring compliance with safety and reliability standards.
  • Ensure that the mechanical engineering aspects of product development align with stakeholder requirements and subsystem-level specifications, with effective validation and verification plans established.
  • Manage mechanical engineering budgets for personnel and financial resources, contributing to future forecasting alongside the Senior Engineering Manager.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in applying best-practice mechanical engineering principles within a relevant engineering sector.
  • Extensive background in a regulated, compliance-focused industry, with a strong grasp of product safety and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding mechanical engineers, leveraging both internal talent and external candidates.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and instruct on best-practice mechanical engineering methodologies.
  • Exceptional influencing and negotiation skills across various organizational levels.
  • High integrity and accountability, with a results-oriented mindset capable of setting standards and ensuring accountability for deliverables.
