Project Manager - Engineering

We are seeking a skilled Project Manager to lead our Engineering team in Peterborough, United Kingdom. As a key member of our Cummins Inc. team, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects across various product lines, including STAMFORD and AvK products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management Expertise: Utilize your expertise in project management to lead multiple projects from start to finish, ensuring timely completion and alignment with project objectives.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with business stakeholders to establish performance goals and design project plans, facilitating planning sessions with internal stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
  • Timeline and Milestone Tracking: Develop project timelines and identify key milestones, regularly tracking progress against performance goals and timelines.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and track project issues, collaborating with team members to resolve challenges promptly and effectively communicate project status.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets closely, conducting research and analysis to optimize resource allocation and contribute to cost-effective project execution.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage project risks, using quality tools to assess potential areas of risk and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to find alternatives or solutions.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Document and share team learnings, drawing on experiences from other project teams to enhance your projects and foster continuous improvement.
  • Resource Allocation and Coaching: Assign appropriate resources to project tasks, guide and coach team members throughout various project stages, and provide developmental feedback to contribute to team growth and project success.

Requirements:

  • Project Issue and Risk Management: Identify, assess, and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and disciplines, driving actions to minimize, monitor, and control risks or issues.
  • Project Resource Management: Develop resource plans (expense and headcount) using project management tools and effectively manage resources to support project goals.
  • Project Scope Management: Manage project deliverables (scope) using recommended tools and ensure the project includes necessary work and nothing extraneous, maintaining project files and adhering to processes.
  • Leadership and Communication: Communicate with project teams, influence without direct reporting, and provide updates to Cummins Inc. leadership.

Qualifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree required.
  • Intermediate level of relevant work experience, including team leadership experience, required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
