Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day running of a busy Children's & Young Persons Unit, ensuring high standards of patient care and treatment are maintained.

Key duties will include assisting the Senior Sisters / Charge Nurses in the organisation and control of all patient care and treatment, assessing the overall resource requirements for the unit, and implementing and maintaining all policies to ensure staff compliance.

The ideal candidate will have clinical credibility in the paediatric arena, with a strong understanding of paediatric nursing principles and practices.

They will also be responsible for assisting in staff training and awareness, ensuring competence is achieved in all aspects of paediatric nursing, and initiating and developing new ideas for the improvement of services to patients in consultation with the unit's senior staff.

The Children's Services department is currently undergoing a transformational change, with the merging of nursing teams across the Paediatric Emergency Department and the Children and Young Peoples Unit.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in paediatric nursing, with a RSCN/RN (Child) qualification and European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) or equivalent.

They will also be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check as part of the recruitment process.
