About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at High Wycombe Hospital. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for preparing the testing room, communicating with patients, and collecting blood samples for further analysis.

Main Responsibilities

  • To receive patients in a polite and efficient manner, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • To communicate the testing procedure clearly, providing instructions on any pre-test preparation requirements.
  • To work collaboratively with patients, parents, carers, and children to obtain lawful consent for invasive procedures.
  • To check patient details against the request form and ensure accurate sample collection.
  • To provide advice to patients and clinical staff on sample collection requirements.
  • To deal with distressed patients in a caring and understanding manner.
  • To follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and contribute to new ways of working.
  • To ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the blood sampling procedure.
  • To visit other Hospital sites, GP clinics, and Domestic homes to provide phlebotomy services.
