We are seeking to recruit a Senior Laboratory Specialist for various laboratories and projects across the UK. This is a long-term opportunity based in locations such as Aylesbury, Greatworth, Plymouth, Bridgwater, Morpeth, York, Scotland, and others.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in materials-related testing, including concrete, soils, and aggregates. They will also support the wider materials team within the business as needed.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Set a personal example in safety matters.
  • Assist with the day-to-day running of mobile site testing/laboratory testing, including organizing workload, on-site sampling, and testing.
  • Liaise with the laboratory manager to ensure the provision of testing capabilities.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with internal/external site engineering staff on priorities and testing requirements as needed.
  • Produce test reports/certificates to clients.
  • Deliver training/proficiency checks to laboratory personnel.
  • Ensure that site sampling and laboratory testing are carried out to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Keep adequate and proper records and file them correctly to satisfy the requirements of the laboratory management system and UKAS.
  • Ensure that sampling and testing are carried out to the appropriate British/European Standards.
  • Maintain test equipment to an acceptable level.
Requirements
  • Educated to Level 3 NVQ standard or similar experience.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS an advantage.
  • CSCS card.
  • Driving Licence.
  • Experience in soils sampling and site/laboratory testing in accordance with BS 1377, including use of Nuclear Density Gauge, In-situ Plate Load Apparatus, In-situ Sand Replacement Density, earthworks, and laboratory shear strength triaxial testing.
  • Materials/Aggregate sampling/laboratory testing in accordance with all relevant standards.
  • Concrete/Spray Concrete sampling/testing in accordance with all relevant standards.
Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this role is £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, along with a competitive package including a company car/car allowance/travel allowance, 8% matched pension contributions, private healthcare, life assurance, 26 days holiday, 2 wellbeing days, 1 volunteering day, and opportunities for personal and professional development.
