EPC Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's growing team in Wembley. As a key member of the engineering and manufacturing company, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of complex projects for the Science & Medical industries.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the development and maintenance of manufactured, fabricated, and formed parts, including specification, design, initial procurement, assembly, and testing.
- Provide guidance and leadership to Mechanical Design Engineers as required.
- Ensure that the information held on the ERP system is up-to-date and relevant for all designed machined and fabricated parts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that products meet their requirements.
- Ensure that designs meet regulatory and safety requirements and that all Engineering drawings meet the requirements of BS8888.
- Develop first draft BOMs for all products.
- Work with the R&D team to further technical innovation and excellence in SMS products.
- Lead the Mechanical Design aspects of the Development plan, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Identify and address technical issues related to mechanical design, manufacturability, and costs throughout the development process.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of prototype components and materials.
- Work with the team to ensure that projects and tasks are completed within the constraints of the project plan.
- Collaborate with the R&D Director to ensure department budget adherence and provide input to the budget as required.
- Contribute to technical reviews, ensuring that all products make best use of available technology.
- Provide relevant input to the production of assembly instructions, service manuals, and operator manuals.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to manufacturing processes, Mechanical, and Product design.
- Excellent SolidWorks skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven experience in Mechanical design and product development, with a track record of contributing to the successful launch of new products to market, preferably in a Metrology-based industry.
- Good understanding of Mechanical design, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Experience of working with a wide range of materials, tools, and technologies and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Good understanding of additive manufacturing and how to make the most of 3D printing capability and capacity.
- Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies and ability to manage time when working on multiple projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Able to use data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
- Experience in supplier selection and liaison with procurement departments.
- Familiarity with ISO9001:2008 and/or ISO13485 quality management systems.
- Experience with Product Data Management/Product Lifecycle Management Systems.
- Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and BOM data accuracy.
- Understanding of ISO 7010 requirements for safety signage.
- Understanding of BS8888.
