We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Microbiologist to join our friendly team in the Microbiology department at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a science-based foundation degree, preferably Biomedical Science, or equivalent qualification.

Main Duties

The post holder will rotate through sections of Microbiology, working in a team to perform complex analytical investigations on patient samples in order to provide a quality and timely diagnostic and monitoring service essential for patient care.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  1. Holds or currently working towards a science-based degree or diploma which is not eligible for registration with the Health Care Professions Council.

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential

  1. Experience in a Microbiology diagnostic laboratory.

Desirable

  1. Knowledge of Quality control procedures.
  2. Experience in a NHS laboratory.

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

  1. Competent in using complex analysers.

Desirable

  1. Use of Word processing and spreadsheet packages.
