Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Public Health Engineer to join our team and provide Mechanical and Public Health engineering support on a high-profile rail programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the design, installation, and commissioning of Mechanical and Public Health systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation, and commissioning of Mechanical and Public Health systems.
  2. Undertake Mechanical and Public Health design review to ensure compliance with current project standards and regulations.
  3. Manage 3rd party design consultants to deliver design deliverables required for the project.
  4. Liaise with main Contractors and Designers to review comments and agree an efficient way forward.
  5. Ensure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.
  6. Participate in HazID, HazOP, and HazCON's as required.
  7. Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy client expectations, project restrictions, and budget considerations.
  8. Manage all associated design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers, etc.
  9. Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modelling to BIM or other standards.
  10. Attend and participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and checks.
  11. Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  12. Attend FAT/SAT to ensure compliance with requirements.
  13. Support and carry out the Commissioning of Mechanical Systems.
  14. Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology, and solve key installation issues.
  15. Work with commercial to track technical or design change and variances.
  16. Work with the planning department to plan design, installation, and T&C works.
  17. Manage subcontractor works as appropriate.
  18. Ensure design and works comply with client quality management systems.
  19. Keep up to date with all Mechanical, construction, and relevant legislation, law, standards, and best practice.
  20. Train and mentor the Mechanical engineering/Mechanical design team.
Requirements
  1. Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards, BIM, and design modelling standards.
  2. Knowledge of design processes and associated compliance.
  3. Advanced MS Office skills including Excel.
  4. Utilisation of MS Project or P6.
  5. Working knowledge of Large HVAC systems, Fire rated duct work, Staircase Pressurisation Systems, Smoke Clearance, Potable water, DHW, gravity/pumped drainage, rainwater collection.
  6. 7 years experience within a similar Mechanical or Public Health Engineering position.
  7. Previously worked within the infrastructure/construction environment.
  8. Experience with offsite construction, modularisation, pre-fabrication, and DfMA.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  2. Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
  3. Registered member IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or recognised Engineering Council Institutions.
  4. SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safety.
  5. CSCS Card - AQP or PQP min.
  6. Full UK drivers license.
