About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Steel Estimator to join our team at Recra Consulting.

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist in performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications. You will also learn to estimate the cost of structural steel based on industry standards and pricing guidelines.

In addition, you will collaborate with experienced estimators to prepare bids and proposals for construction projects. This will involve developing skills in risk assessment to identify potential uncertainties in estimating steel costs.

You will also support the documentation and reporting process, maintaining accurate records of estimates and project details. Furthermore, you will shadow and assist senior estimators in client meetings, enhancing communication and relationship-building skills.

Your duties will also include continuously learning about steel fabrication processes, installation techniques, and industry best practices. Additionally, you will provide support in cost control activities, assisting in monitoring project costs and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A strong interest in the construction industry, specifically in steel estimation
  • Basic knowledge of construction drawings and specifications
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to work under guidance and learn from experienced professionals
