Job Title: Plant Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineer to join our team at Proftech Talent. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of our plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement plans to improve plant availability and reliability.
  2. Investigate and resolve recurring plant issues to minimize downtime.
  3. Analyze engineering-based non-standards and implement improvements.
  4. Complete regular reviews of planned maintenance activities.
  5. Ensure safe working practices through method statements and risk assessments.
  6. Implement plant and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  7. Control and understand engineering spend to optimize resources.
  8. Ensure sufficient spares are available to minimize downtime.
  9. Liaise closely with maintenance and operations teams to maximize opportunities during plant downtime.
  10. Identify cost savings through plant improvements and energy savings.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a degree or HNC in a relevant field, and a minimum of five years' experience in a similar role. IOSH certification is desirable.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  2. Ability to coach maintenance staff on technical issues.
  3. Ability to identify and plan work to avoid unplanned production outages.
  4. Excellent communication skills to work with peers and external experts.
  5. Ability to produce technical reports on dangerous occurrences and plant incidents.
  6. Strong organizational skills to manage purchase orders and payment authorization.

Technical Skills:

  1. Sound understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  2. Knowledge of machinery, including gearboxes, drives, millers, lathes, and bar peelers.
  3. Knowledge of test piece furnaces and laboratory testing equipment is advantageous.
  4. Cranes and lifting equipment knowledge is essential.
  5. Knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulations is beneficial.
  6. Ability to develop risk assessments and method statements.
  7. Competent in AutoCAD and/or Inventor design software.
