Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement and Contract Manager to join our Procurement and Commercial team at SSE. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing end-to-end procurement and contract management services for our onshore connections, capital network reinforcements, and subsea cable projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures, promoting safety and safe working practices both internally and externally to improve safety performance.
- Provide end-to-end procurement and contract management services, inclusive of management of commercial, business, and legal project risks and negotiating terms and conditions to ensure ongoing value for money throughout the lifetime of all contracts.
- Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategy to optimize value for money in conjunction with project delivery aligned with our business objectives and goals.
- Provide timely budgeting and cost reporting, as well as supporting the delivery of departmental KPIs and objectives such as savings in total cost of ownership, value engineering, and safety performance.
- Build and support the development of relationships with main suppliers/contractors and liaise with points of contact on project(s)/contract(s).
Requirements:
- Enthusiastic, delivery-focused individual with strong commercial acumen and technical understanding of construction principles.
- Well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills gained from working as a contracts/commercial manager or quantity surveyor in the construction industry.
- Experience of working with the NEC ECC forms of contract or similar is essential.
- Ability to research, gather, and present information both verbally and written on contracts.
- Experience of negotiation and management of offshore contracts is preferred but not essential.
- Experience in bottom-up costing, cost and budget management, pre- and post-contract administration, contract negotiation, claims, and commercial program and risk management.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred, however, candidates with other relevant construction-related degrees with appropriate experience will be considered.
