Relief Custodian

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and organized individual to join our team as a Relief Custodian in Uist and Barra Schools. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our school buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out security procedures for school buildings and grounds, including keyholder responsibilities
• Perform handyperson duties as required
• Operate and maintain boilers and heating plant as instructed
• Prepare classrooms and halls for school and public use
• Supervise school crossing patrols and pupils at intervals and open and close of school
• Supervise community lets outwith school hours

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively on own initiative and as part of a team
• Organized and effective approach to janitorial duties
• Ability to relate to and control pupils and deal effectively with misbehaviour
• Sufficient knowledge to identify faults in buildings' fabric/fitting/contents
• Basic handyperson duties
• Willingness to respond promptly to emergency call-outs

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

This post is on an as and when basis to cover absences of permanent staff. Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.
