About this role
As a Customer Ambassador at GWR, you will be the face of our company, providing exceptional customer service to thousands of customers every day. You will be the first point of contact for our customers, and your role will be to ensure that every interaction is a positive one.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Proactively help our customers and brighten up their day, whatever the weather
- Help millions of rail customers get to where they want to go, making every single journey important
- Cover every inch of your station to go the extra mile for our customers and be empowered to deal with a variety of different situations
You will need to be:
- Someone who can think on your feet and make quick decisions, able to connect with and talk to our customers face-to-face
- A confident communicator who can put people at ease and help those who are worried or in a hurry in a tactful and sensitive way
- Hard working and share our 'customer first' approach and passion for making a positive difference to the customer experience
As a minimum, you will need to have:
- Experience of working in a demanding customer facing role such as retail, aviation or other customer facing service sector roles
- Outstanding communication skills
- Education to at least GCSE standard or equivalent
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, web browsing, internet applications and relevant devices (smart phones, tablets)
- Knowledge of the local area
Working pattern
This is a shift-based role, which means you will need to be flexible and available to work between 06:30 and 22:00, including weekends and bank holidays. You will also need to be able to cover weekend working on a rota.
Additional information
Applicants will be required to submit a CV as part of the application. Candidates successfully shortlisted will be invited to an assessment selection day. The successful candidate will be required to meet the medical standards for the role, including a drugs and alcohol screen. A Basic DBS is also required. Full training will be provided, which will take place at our Training Centre in Swindon, as well as on the job training.
