Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable healthcare professional to join our Accident and Emergency (A&E) department as an A&E Streamer on an ad hoc basis. The A&E Streamer will be responsible for the initial assessment and triage of patients presenting to the A&E, ensuring that they receive the most appropriate level of care in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initial Assessment and Triage: Perform rapid initial assessments of patients upon arrival to determine the severity and urgency of their conditions.
- Patient Streamlining: Direct patients to the appropriate care pathway, whether it be emergency treatment within A&E, primary care, or other services.
- Coordination: Liaise with other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care for patients.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient assessments, decisions, and any interventions performed.
- Communication: Clearly communicate with patients and their families regarding their care pathway and any next steps.
- Crisis Management: Respond promptly to any sudden changes in patient condition or unexpected emergencies.
- Support A&E Team: Provide support to the A&E team during peak times or staff shortages, ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other duties as required by the A&E Department Manager to address immediate and unforeseen needs.
Requirements:
- Education: Registered Nurse (RN), General Practitioner (GP), or equivalent healthcare qualification.
- Experience: Previous experience in an emergency care setting is highly desirable.
- License: Valid professional license to practice in the UK.
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication abilities, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Attributes: Adaptable, quick thinker, empathetic, and able to manage a high-paced environment.
Work Conditions:
- Schedule: Ad hoc shifts as needed, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Environment: Fast-paced and high-pressure emergency department setting.
- Physical Demands: Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion, such as lifting and moving patients.
