About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Planning Lead to join our team at Arcadis. As a key member of our Environmental Planning team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables.

You will work closely with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments and related deliverables, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business and mentor others in the team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influencing project development, and delivering optimal environmental outcomes
  • Undertaking your own work to an excellent standard, and reviewing the work of others
  • Working in partnership with other members of the Impact Assessment Team across the UK
  • Proactively managing selected projects or components of projects, taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors and quality assurance
  • Lead and support tender proposal/ bids - working as part of a project winning team
  • Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers and colleagues
  • Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
  • Developing outstanding reports - an ability to summarise and explain outcomes to non-technical audiences will be critical for this
  • Managing projects, overseeing our performance on technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety
Requirements
  • Good knowledge of EIA practices and procedures and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms
  • Experience across a range of project types, ideally within the energy, residential/mixed use/ regeneration sector, as well as in other major infrastructure projects including rail/ highways
  • Proven experience of managing and coordinating EIA screening and scoping activities and Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chapters
  • Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills
  • Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders
  • The ability to work as part of an established team, supervising members of staff as applicable
  • Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
  • Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards
  • A valid UK driving licence
  • Desired: Experience in the delivery of SEA and/ or Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA) projects
  • Desired: Knowledge and application experience of sustainability, waste or carbon assessments
