Occupational Therapist in Mental Health Service

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in the Mental Health Service at Heatherwood Court Hospital. This role focuses on providing interventions related to activities of daily living such as personal care and hygiene, laundry and other domestic chores and food preparation to maximise functional performance in patients with mental health issues.

This role involves working predominantly in a support worker role, with a day each week devoted to Occupational Therapy clinical work. The successful candidate will support patients with interventions related to their functional performance, such as ability to prepare balanced meals and maintain basic bedroom hygiene.

To succeed in this role, you must have an interest in and commitment to the practice of occupational therapy, which involves providing meaningful engagement in activities of daily living in relation to self-care, leisure and productivity. There will be multiple opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interventions related to activities of daily living
  • Work with patients to develop structured care plans for personal care and wellbeing
  • Support patients with interventions related to their functional performance
  • Develop skills, knowledge and experience in occupational therapy

Requirements:

  • Interest in and commitment to the practice of occupational therapy
  • Ability to work with patients to develop structured care plans
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
