Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Aspiring Clinical or Educational Psychologist

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Academics Ltd. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who have Autism and associated learning and behavioural needs.

About the School

Our school is a specialist institution that provides a safe and therapeutic environment for students with Autism and associated needs. We offer a range of specialist support services, including sensory rooms, soft play, and therapy rooms, to ensure that our students receive the best possible care and support.

Key Responsibilities

As a Learning Support Assistant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing individualized support to students with Autism and associated needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of effective communication techniques
  • Working closely with our team of therapists, including SALTs, Occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors
  • Supporting students with challenging behaviour and de-escalating situations
  • Participating in the development and implementation of individualized education plans

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A passion for working with students with Autism and associated needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledge of specialist communication methods, such as Makaton, PECS, and TEACCH
  • A degree in Psychology or specialist SEN training is highly desirable
