Job Summary

The Clinical Biochemistry Department at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Associate Practitioner to assist in the provision of an efficient and smooth running service within the department. The post-holder will work as a Non-State Registered Biomedical Scientist (NBMS) to assist in the provision of laboratory services, including specimen reception, preparation, and analysis. The successful candidate will have a foundation degree in laboratory science or equivalent and experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Main Duties

The post-holder will be responsible for preparing specimens for analysis, maintaining knowledge and understanding of laboratory analysers, and running analysers following standard operating procedures. The successful candidate will also assist in the provision of administrative and secretarial support in the department.

Person Specification

  • Foundation degree in laboratory science or equivalent
  • Experience in a clinical laboratory environment
  • Aware of techniques used within a clinical laboratory environment
  • Aware of Health and Safety within a clinical laboratory environment
  • Aware of Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
