About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine to join our team at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our medical education team, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering teaching in Respiratory Medicine at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Subject Lead for Respiratory Medicine, working closely with academic leads and clinical colleagues to formulate and implement a plan for the delivery of subject teaching.
  • Use your subject matter expertise to create and curate high-quality teaching materials, reflecting the conditions and presentations that students will need to recognize for the Medical Licensing Assessment.
  • Develop formative and summative assessments aligned to the learning materials generated, ensuring a seamless integration of medical science, anatomy, and clinical skills and reasoning teaching.
  • Contribute to the wider delivery of medical school activities, including participation in admissions, tutoring, and assessment and feedback.
Person Specification
  • Valid Full Registration with the General Medical Council
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: a) Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) b) Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) c) European Community Rights
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Other relevant medical and non-medical training/degree
  • Other relevant postgraduate qualification
  • A commitment to, and experience of teaching
  • Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
  • Teaching of non-medical health professionals
