Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Communications Specialist to join our established Network Communications Team at Bournemouth University. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the delivery of high-quality networking and communications services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise wireless networks, next-generation firewalls, Cisco ISE, telephony, WAN, fibre optic networks, load balancing appliances, routing, and switching infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To design, install, configure, test, and document network systems according to specifications agreed with stakeholders.
  • To oversee and participate in network technology upgrades or maintenance/expansion projects, ensuring minimal impact on live systems.
  • To proactively identify opportunities for improvement and recommend changes that support business benefits, aligning with business and IT strategy.

Requirements:

  • Substantial experience working with security technologies, next-generation firewalls (preferably Cisco), and wireless networks installations and configuration.
  • Experience in related networking and communications technologies (preferably Cisco).
  • Substantial experience working with routing technologies.

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, career development opportunities, and a commitment to work-life balance. This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service's guidance.
