First People Solutions is seeking an experienced HSQE Manager to join a leading civil engineering contractor in Dundee. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health, safety, and quality, with a proven track record of driving standards in the construction industry.

The HSQE Manager will be responsible for maintaining the company's high standard of health and safety, instilling safety values throughout the business, and ensuring compliance with current legislation. This role entails the development, maintenance, and coordination of health and safety policies, procedures, and performance.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for upholding the company's compliance with environmental legislation, developing environmental policies and procedures, and assisting the Operations Manager in the development and auditing of the ISO system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Audits: Conduct thorough site audits, manage the safety audit system, and implement improvement plans to reduce accidents.
  2. Safety Culture: Promote a strong behavioural safety culture, emphasizing compliance with safety rules across the business.
  3. Relationship Building: Foster relationships with site managers and Client H&S managers for guidance and support.
  4. ISO Management: Oversee the Integrated Management System, ensuring continued ISO certification.
  5. Environmental Strategy: Manage the implementation of the Company's Environmental Strategy.
  6. Quality Assurance: Assist in auditing quality standards and conducting non-conformance report (NCR) investigations.
  7. Reporting: Prepare quarterly and annual safety reports, analyse performance records, and suggest improvements.
  8. Accident Investigation: Investigate major safety incidents and collaborate with external consultants to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.

Requirements:

  1. NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Chartered Membership is essential.
  2. Previous H&S experience within the construction industry.
  3. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to implement and manage H&S programmes effectively.
