We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Team Leader/Senior Orthopaedic Scrub/Operating Department Practitioner to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

About the Role:

The post holder will be responsible for working closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring peri-operative care. This will involve identifying common issues affecting the quality of care, devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings, and ensuring agreed actions are taken.

The successful candidate will have a broad clinical background in Orthopaedic Surgery and demonstrable management skills. They will be expected to actively support, coordinate, and assist in the management and delivery of high-quality care to patients during the peri-operative phase of their care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Support the management and delivery of high-quality care to patients during the peri-operative phase of their care.
  • Work closely with all disciplines to ensure the promotion of high standards for all patients requiring peri-operative care.
  • Identify common issues affecting the quality of care and devise clear action plans to address any shortcomings.
  • Ensure agreed actions are taken to improve the quality of care.
Requirements:
  • NMC or HPC registration (RGN or ODP qualification) with significant experience.
  • Leadership and Management course.
Skills and Qualities:
  • Leadership and Management skills as well as Teaching skills.
  • Able to supervise and work under pressure and adaptable to change. Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours, participate in internal rotation and on-calls. Required to work across sites as and when required.
