Role Overview
As an Associate Technical Director, you will play a key role in leading and managing the delivery of ecological projects to meet time, budgetary, and safety targets. You will be responsible for managing the ecological aspects of client relationships, ensuring delivery exceeds client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects, particularly budgets and cash flow, and attend meetings to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support the Team Leader in the day-to-day running of the team and provide advice to clients.
- Have responsibility for technical quality and approval of project deliverables.
- Undertake ecological surveys, analyze results, and manage the production of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), impact assessments, and biodiversity strategies.
- Provide advice on ecological issues, both in-depth and broad-ranging.
- Compile licence applications, develop mitigation and monitoring strategies, and undertake/supervise mitigation and monitoring of licensed work.
- Perform performance management of assigned team members and provide training at staff meetings and to smaller groups.
- Design research projects and contribute to the development of best practice with respect to training and survey standards.
Requirements
- Excellent commercial and project management skills for a range of project sizes.
- Detailed knowledge of ecological principles, biodiversity metrics, relevant environmental and ecological impact assessment (EcIA) legislation, policy, and guidance.
- In-depth knowledge of particular plant or animal groups and appropriate field survey skills.
- Proven track record in writing and delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), writing and/or delivering Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs), and Ecology Chapters for Environmental Statements.
- Proven experience of bid production for a range of projects and client interaction.
- Experience leading a team.
- Hold survey and/or mitigation/conservation licenses.
- Leads in the design and compliance of biosecurity and health and safety protocols.
- You will hold a relevant degree, ideally with a further education qualification.
- Chartered Environmentalist/Ecologist (or demonstrably approaching Chartered Ecologist).
- Full member of CIEEM.
- The ability to travel, when necessary.
