About North Lakes Children's Services
We are a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18, dedicated to improving the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of our young people.
Our school has gained an outstanding Ofsted inspection and is now an Accredited SILVER Award Attachment and Trauma Sensitive School.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to enhance the learning of pupils with special educational and learning needs while supporting teaching staff in enabling independence, participation in the curriculum, and daily life.
Job Summary
- Support pupils in various settings, including individual, group, and classroom situations, as well as during breaks and unstructured times
- Accompany pupils on organized school visits when necessary
- In conjunction with the SENDCo, develop social skills and appropriate behavior in pupils
- Participate in developing, delivering, and monitoring individual programs
- Assist in resolving issues causing anxiety or emotional responses in pupils
- Maintain accurate records as required by the school
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective use of support
- Support delivery of Key Stage 2 and 3 curriculum maps
- Deliver KS4 programs of study
- Participate in working groups as needed
- Work as part of a flexible and supportive team to further the school's ethos
- Attend weekly staff meetings and relevant INSET/CPD events
Requirements
- Relevant experience in a similar environment or equivalent qualifications
- Hold appropriate academic qualifications to at least GCSE standard or professional qualifications to at least NVQ level 2, or demonstrate competency through proven experience in a similar role
- Basic first aid knowledge
- Able to work independently and maintain high accuracy in records
- Good time management skills and flexibility to meet post demands
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate within a busy team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in various contexts
- Willingness to undertake relevant training to enhance personal development and benefit the school
- Familiarity with child development and different ways children learn to read would be advantageous
- Knowledge of ACES or childhood trauma's impact on individuals would be beneficial; training available
- Demonstrate willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check if successful
