Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Radiologist to join our team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in Breast Imaging and associated intervention, with a broad range of experience in General Radiology.

The post includes programmed activities in symptomatic breast and general radiology, with the opportunity to develop a subspecialty interest. We are committed to providing a supportive environment that allows our staff to maintain a balance between work and home life.

The successful candidate will join a team of 30 consultant radiologists, working together to deliver Diagnostic Imaging Services to the Trust and local commissioners. We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and have achieved our status in 2019.

Main Duties of the Job

The workload of the successful candidate will be approximately that recommended by the Royal College of Radiologists. The successful candidate will also play a role in teaching and developing skill mix within the Unit and participate in the MDT meetings.

Person SpecificationQualifications/TrainingEssential Criteria
  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
  • College Membership (FRCR) or qualification of an equivalent level
Desirable Criteria
  • College Fellowship
  • Postgraduate degree (or equivalent)
Previous ExperienceEssential Criteria
  • Broad range of experience in General Radiology in particular:
    Experience of Breast Ultrasound, Breast Intervention, Plain film reporting, Mammography, Breast MRI, CT/US (general)
    Fully competent in General and Breast Radiology
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
  • Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
Desirable Criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in a Locum Consultant role
SkillsEssential Criteria
  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
  • Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
  • Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
  • Ability to effectively teach clinical skills
  • Ability to critically appraise published evidence
