Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coding Analyst to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of the coding department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring high data quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Code clinical data on a daily basis, utilizing effective data extraction and analysis techniques.
  • Apply independent judgment in interpreting, transposing, and sequencing complex clinical information according to national rules and conventions.
  • Liaise with Clinical Coding Managers to confirm diagnostic and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the clinical coding process and identify service improvements.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of clinical coding rules and conventions, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and be able to meet strict monthly deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, and other health professionals are essential for this role.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Significant experience coding in an NHS inpatient setting.
  • Completed a Clinical Coding Standards Course.
  • A comprehensive understanding of ICD-10 & OPCS-4.
