Job Responsibilities

This role will involve supporting the clinical team in performing general healthcare assistant duties including collecting blood samples from patients by venepuncture.

The specific duties involved in this post include:

  1. To reduce pressure on medical and nursing staff by providing a supporting healthcare assistant role.
  2. To collect blood samples as requested by medical staff from patients by venepuncture to enable appropriate tests to be carried out.
  3. To ensure all protocols for handling, labelling and documenting specimens are adhered to.
  4. To ensure delivery of specimens to appropriate laboratories.
  5. To enter details as required on to Practice patient records system.
  6. To take ECG readings when requested (following adequate training and adhering to Practice protocols).
  7. To support the Practice minor injuries and wound care services by applying dressings where clinically appropriate (following adequate training and adhering to Practice protocols).

An estimated salary of £22,000-£28,000 per annum based on location and experience.
