Job Description:

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Town Planner to join our team at Hunter Dunning Ltd. As a Town Planner, you will be responsible for obtaining planning permissions for a range of projects, from unique bespoke developments to large-scale schemes of over 1,000 units as part of long-term local regeneration efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Planning Process: Take responsibility for the planning process across all stages, from site inspection through to receipt of planning permissions, reporting to the director of the department.
  2. Planning Applications: Create and manage planning applications, conditions, and appeal documents for local authority submissions.
  3. Research: Conduct research on previous planning applications for sites, as necessary.
  4. Record Keeping: Accurate record keeping for internal systems and local authority planning policies and plan reviews.
  5. Representation: Represent the business at planning and consultation meetings.
  6. Knowledge Update: Keep up to date with local planning policies and strategies across transport, green infrastructure, renewable energy, local economy, jobs, climate change, and more.
  7. Consultant Liaison: Obtain and negotiate quotes from consultants and external engineers.
  8. Team Collaboration: Liaise with the wider planning team on relevant issues.

Requirements:

  1. Experience: 2+ years of relevant industry experience, ideally within the local region.
  2. Communication Skills: Experience in addressing the general public as well as council officers and committee members in a public forum.
  3. Planning Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in the planning processes and associated regulations.
  4. Education: Planning or Surveying Degree or above or equivalent is desirable.
  5. Professional Certifications: MRTPI, MRICS or RIBA is desirable.

What We Offer:

  1. Salary: Salary ranging between £40,000 – £60,000 DOE + mileage.
  2. Annual Leave: Up to 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
