Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Headteacher to lead our new school, Trimdon Hill School, in Durham. The school will cater for 40 pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism, and will be part of the Options Autism network.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective leadership and management of the school, ensuring it meets its aims and objectives and operates within the overall strategy and guidelines of Options Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality educational program that meets the needs of pupils with Autism.
  • Lead a team of staff to ensure the school provides a safe and supportive environment for pupils and staff.
  • Meet all statutory requirements and achieve the highest inspection ratings possible.
  • Develop and implement a growth plan to increase pupil numbers and achieve commercial success.
  • Lead strategic and operational planning, including self-evaluation and school improvement.
  • Develop a shared vision that inspires and motivates pupils, staff, and the wider school community.

Essential Criteria:

  • At least three years' experience as a senior leader in a special educational needs school.
  • Qualified Teacher Status or Equivalent.
  • Willingness to extend personal and professional development.
  • Ability to lead and provide a clear vision.
  • Appreciation and understanding of the leadership and management of a school, including pupil outcomes, staff motivation, and regulatory requirements.

We offer a competitive salary of up to £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a performance-related bonus. The role is permanent and term-time only, with 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
