Job Summary

ERT is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to provide support for NOAA's Satellite Control missions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with experience in planning, coordinating, and executing tasks to ensure the smooth operation of network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks and execute procedures to operate and maintain network infrastructure hardware and software.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve operational problems in the LAN/WAN infrastructure.
  • Support integration efforts for architectural improvements, new subsystems, migrations, OS upgrades, hardware upgrades, and others.
  • Document configuration changes in the configuration management system.
  • Monitor and report device health and status, bandwidth utilization rates, uptime, outage and anomaly tracking, and threat detection/prevention.
  • Document problem resolution activities in the ticketing system.
  • Review and maintain documents and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support when required.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience leading to knowledge of fault-tolerance and high-availability, stateful failover, open standards solutions, system performance, and Continuity of Operations (COOP)
  • Knowledge of Next-generation firewalls (NGFW), security zones, and defense-in-depth
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF and BGP
  • Configure, optimize, and troubleshoot network protocols including VRRP (or HSRP), STP, LACP, MLAG (or vPC), Dot1q, and others
  • Knowledge and familiarity with cabling standards such as TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, IEEE, and others

Location

Work is to be completed on-site at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF) in Suitland, MD. Position eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
