About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our UK Construction Services Team based out of Birmingham.



Job Description


This senior role requires a talented professional with expertise in environmental compliance and sustainability, particularly in carbon-focused design.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Providing guidance and support to project teams on environmental documentation and licensing requirements.
  • Compiling environmental plans, method statements, and risk assessments during the pre-construction phase.
  • Liaising with experts such as ecologists, archaeologists, and designers to determine and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Advising construction teams on pollution prevention and best practices through management plans, training, site inspections, and meetings.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and contractual/planning requirements during construction activities through regular site inspections and reviews.
  • Maintaining site waste management plans and collating waste records from subcontractors.
  • Collating sustainability records, including carbon and material sourcing data from subcontractors.
  • Advising on noise, vibration, and air quality monitoring and undertaking tasks as necessary.
  • Supporting incident investigations, observations, and audit findings.
  • Liaising with key environmental stakeholders, including clients, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.
  • Reporting on initiatives to improve environmental performance onsite.
  • Engaging with site teams to identify best practice environmental mitigations and improved sustainability initiatives.


Requirements:



  • Degree-level education in a relevant field, such as environment or sustainability.
  • Understanding of current environmental legislation and best practices related to construction projects.
  • Familiarity with routine environmental inspections and reporting for construction projects.
  • Experience with Waste Duty of Care requirements and documents.
  • Good interpersonal skills, communication skills, influencing and persuasion skills.
  • Proven experience of incident investigation/fact finding.
