Molecular Plant Pathologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Molecular Plant Pathologist to join our team at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (NIAB). As a key member of our Plant Pathology department, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of plant pathogens and their interactions with crops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct molecular biology research to investigate the mechanisms of plant pathogen infection and fungicide resistance
- Develop and implement novel molecular diagnostic techniques for plant pathogens
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and execute experiments to characterise virulence effectors and fungicide-resistant alleles in cereal-infecting fungi
- Assist with the development of new crop protection strategies and technologies
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g. plant pathology, molecular biology, genetics)
- Experience in molecular biology techniques, including DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, and cloning
- Strong understanding of plant pathology and crop protection principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
