About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Media Relations Manager to join our Corporate Affairs team at Sainsbury's. As a key member of the team, you will play a critical role in protecting and promoting the company's reputation through effective management of media relations and issues impacting corporate reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate reactive press office activities and manage internal stakeholder communication on corporate and change issues.
- Develop proactive communication strategies to ensure positive and accurate coverage of Sainsbury's values in the media.
- Build relationships with key journalists and stay informed of current and future business risks.
- Contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on continuous improvement and excellence in media relations.
Requirements
- A media relations professional with experience gained in a high-profile press office or other news media environment.
- Prior experience dealing with issues management and crisis communication situations.
- A first-rate news sense and track record of delivering effective reactive and proactive communication strategies.
- A broad range of media relations skills including writing statements, Q&As, briefing documents, blogs, and press releases.
- Good understanding of the business environment, current affairs, and the media.
- Good knowledge of consumer-facing or FMCG businesses.
- Knowledge and experience of consumer PR issues and proactive PR.
- Experience of using digital channels to complement traditional media.
