Job Title: Water Monitoring Specialist

United Utilities is seeking a highly skilled Water Monitoring Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and governance to ensure the accurate financial settlement of water and wastewater process budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and governance to ensure the accurate financial settlement of water and wastewater process budgets.
  • Accountable for ensuring that financial rules are upheld and that all associated costs are captured under one work order.
  • Lead the investigation into errors identified in the MARS process and provide recommendations to the Maintenance Services and finance teams.
  • Responsible for undertaking regular analysis of asset and work information captured by field teams and reporting on findings to help operations/maintenance optimisation team identify opportunities to make improvements.
  • Monitor and escalate any reoccurring errors to field teams such as employees not following the process.
  • Attend all water and wastewater finance 121s as a subject matter expert, supporting the Production Managers in ensuring spend allocation process is controlled and in the correct place.
  • Accountable for all capitalisation transferred to adhere to the internal control manual.
Requirements:
  • Technical expert in financial settlement rules including internal control manual, FRS102 and capitalisation rules.
  • SAP system expert including United Utilities business processes surrounding MARS, Click, SAP, Searchlight.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, PowerPivot, blending and joining of multiple datasets).
  • In-depth analysis and synthesis skills.
  • Ability to handle and interpret large volumes of data/records from different data sources.
  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) - Must be able to demonstrate a systemic approach to root cause analysis, identifying any reoccurring failures, trends, reporting on cyclic completion vs. assets failing.
  • Asset Management - Understanding of Asset Management lifecycle including Costs to Maintain, monitoring, maintenance routines etc. and an understanding of Asset Registration/De-Registration.
