Scottish Friendly is seeking an experienced actuary to join our Actuarial Department as a Development Actuary (With-Profits). Based in Glasgow City Centre, we're a leading mutual life insurance office in the UK, known for our innovative approach and commitment to excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to support the development of our Society's strategy in the Actuarial department. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver our forward-looking strategy, while collaborating with the Actuarial and Finance functions to ensure the efficient management of our with-profits funds.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the actuarial function and With-Profits Actuary in developing our approach to operating the with-profits funds
  • Working with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives, including M&A and with-profits transformation activity
  • Developing and enhancing run-off plans for relevant funds
  • Maintaining our with-profits miscellaneous surplus distribution policy and excess surplus distribution policy
  • Producing proposals relevant to the financial management of our with-profits business
  • Liaising with other departments, including IT, Pricing, and Risk

To succeed in this role, you'll need a good working knowledge of life insurance products, including with-profits, and strong interpersonal and communication skills. RAFM modelling and SQL experience are preferred but not essential.
