Graduate Teaching Assistant (Primary) Role

GSL Education is seeking enthusiastic graduates to join our client schools as Primary Level Teaching Assistants in Sunderland. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience and support students in their progress.

Job Summary:

A Graduate Teaching Assistant will work closely with faculty members to support their teaching efforts within a specific academic department or programme. The primary responsibilities include assisting in course instruction, conducting tutorials or lab sessions, grading assignments and exams, and aiding students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons under the guidance of the subject teacher.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to achieve their academic goals.
  • Create a supportive learning environment.
  • Support the teacher in assessing student progress and maintaining records of achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Support the school's behaviour management policies to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support subject teachers in maintaining classroom discipline and engagement.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Education or a relevant subject area is preferred but not essential.
  • Enthusiasm for working with children and a commitment to their educational development.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Enthusiasm, patience, and a passion for education.
  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in education.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to varying classroom dynamics and educational settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
