Karlstad University seeks a highly skilled Neurobiology Curator to join our Cellular Genetics Programme.

You will work with an international consortium of labs, including some of the world's leading neurobiology labs and institutes, funded by the NIH Brain Initiative Cell Atlas Network program. Your primary responsibility will be to help build and publish the first brain-wide atlas of cell types in human and non-human primate (NHP) brains.

About the Role:
We are seeking a talented individual to collaborate with BICAN research scientists and developers to design community curation tools and standards for annotating data. You will develop standard, data-linked reference ontologies of brain cell types and brain regions covering whole brains of human and non-human primates using the outputs of the Brain Initiative Cell Atlas Network (BICAN).

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with researchers to develop community-driven tools and standards for annotating neurobiology data.
- Design and implement data-linked reference ontologies of brain cell types and regions using BICAN outputs.

Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of neurobiology, including basic anatomy and cell types.
- Ability to work independently and organize your own workload to achieve quality and quantity targets.
- Experience researching unfamiliar topics in scientific literature.
- PhD in a relevant field.
- Basic programming experience in Unix shell and Python or R.
- Good understanding of single-cell transcriptomics and related analysis techniques.

What We Offer:
A 2-year fixed-term contract and the opportunity to contribute to the development of standards and tools to annotate, track, and knit together data and analyses to build a consensus atlas and ontology that will serve as a reference for human and NHP brain cell types.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
