Yard Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Yard Supervisor to join our team at Streamline Services Consultancy Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our timber distribution centre in Purfleet, Essex.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise Yard Operations: Oversee all yard activities, including the organization, storage, and distribution of timber products.
- Manage Pick and Distribution Process: Ensure efficient and accurate picking and packing of orders, maintaining productivity and safety standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of yard operatives across rotating shifts, ensuring smooth shift handovers and clear communication between teams.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all safety regulations are followed, conducting regular risk assessments and safety checks within the yard.
- Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels, coordinating with other departments to ensure timely replenishment and minimizing shortages.
- Shift Management: Coordinate and supervise activities across rotating shifts (day, evening, and night shifts), ensuring coverage and operational continuity.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all equipment, including forklifts and machinery, is properly maintained and in safe working order.
- Customer Service: Liaise with transport teams and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory role within a yard, warehouse, or distribution setting (preferably in the timber industry).
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities with the capacity to motivate and develop staff.
- Health & Safety Knowledge: Solid understanding of health and safety regulations, with experience conducting risk assessments.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with staff and customers.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £33,000, negotiable based on experience.
