Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Instructor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing specific programmes for children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.
  • Running groups, developing group activities to meet defined intervention needs and providing feedback to the supervising Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Maintaining confidential written and contemporaneous speech and language therapy records of work undertaken.
  • Reporting to the therapist regarding child's performance in therapy for purpose of ongoing assessment and report writing, and collecting information to contribute to assessment according to pre-defined formula agreed with the SLT.

You will also be responsible for organising your own timetable in agreement with your line manager, preparing resources for implementation of specific programmes following aims given by the supervising SLT, identifying resource materials for therapy, school/nursery and home use, demonstrating agreed therapy techniques to others working with the child, and sharing experience and expertise in a given area of work with other colleagues, professional groups, carers and service users.
