Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Kingspan Data & Flooring. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, customers, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments and COSHH assessments on new products and processes to identify potential hazards and implement controls.
- Review and update existing risk assessments and COSHH assessments to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
- Develop and implement site safety policies and procedures, and advise on improvements and necessary legal updates.
- Investigate all accidents and incidents, report RIDDOR injuries to the HSE, and advise on improvements to reduce similar incidents.
- Assist in accident investigations and review risk assessments as necessary.
- Understand and implement annual Net Zero targets and develop action plans to achieve them.
- Communicate Kingspan's global sustainability programme, Planet Passionate, effectively to all stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with OHSAS18001, ISO14001, and ISO 50001 requirements.
- Participate in HSE aspects related to Customer and Supplier audits.
- Advise on all aspects of H&S, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery, and occupational health.
- Monitor boiler emissions and meter readings, and record results on internal logs.
- Manage relationships with external bodies on environmental issues.
- Manage the permit to work system, ensuring safety of contractors working on site.
- Lead Health and Safety discussion meetings and escalate issues to the Head of Operations.
- Liaise with suppliers and customers to ensure safety systems are in place.
- Work closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to support HSE matters.
- Support and influence manufacturing KPIs.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others.
- Work with Group HSE professionals to drive safety and environmental improvements.
- Work with regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing legal compliance.
- Arrange external expertise as required.
- Assess ongoing training requirements and arrange training.
- Provide In-House training and toolbox talks as required.
- Arrange Health Surveillance as required.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate qualification, with NEBOSH Environmental desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, with an engineering bias advantageous.
- Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels.
- Persistent manner and ability to succeed in a challenging environment.
- Knowledge of key Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and its application.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments, site inspections, report writing, and contractor management.
- Professional approach generating credibility and confidence in others.
