Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist to join our team at CK Group. In this role, you will provide direct support to laboratory scientists in programming and operating automated platforms.

You will work closely with equipment users to develop and optimise scientific protocols on their automation platforms, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.

  • Develop and implement high throughput automated workflows.
  • Lead Equipment Breakdown Deep-Dive activities to identify underlying causes and mitigate reoccurrence.
  • Train equipment users on key concepts associated with automation platforms.
  • Maintain awareness of new developments in Laboratory Automation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaboration with scientists to develop, optimise, validate, and troubleshoot high throughput automated workflows.
  • Leading Equipment Breakdown Deep-Dive activities to identify underlying causes and mitigate reoccurrence.
  • Training equipment users on key concepts associated with automation platforms.
  • Maintaining awareness of new developments in Laboratory Automation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 3+ years of experience servicing laboratory equipment OR
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) (or equivalent) in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 4+ years of experience servicing laboratory equipment OR
  • A Level (or equivalent) in Engineering, Technical, or Sciences, with 5+ years of experience servicing laboratory equipment OR
  • General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) with 6+ years of experience serving laboratory equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Working in a laboratory environment, which may involve:
  • Wearing personal protective equipment, such as lab coats and safety glasses.
  • Frequent operation of instruments, objects, tools, or controls, requiring regular bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching.
  • Sometimes moving or lifting up to 25 pounds (with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous waste, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.

Estimated salary: £65,000 - £85,000 per year
