Job Title: Director - Regulatory Finance

At KPMG, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Regulatory Finance team. As a key member of our Infrastructure, Power & Utilities (P&U) sector, you will be responsible for providing senior leadership and contributing to the management of our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership to our Regulatory Finance team, working closely with other Directors and Partners in P&U.
  • Contribute to the management of our Infrastructure, Power & Utilities business as part of the senior management leadership group.
  • Build and maintain enduring client relationships, becoming the go-to person for our clients on regulatory finance issues and market opportunities.
  • Lead client engagements on both public and private sector mandates, working with internal teams, client project teams, and other professional advisors.
  • Produce high-quality outputs, including expert reports, options appraisals, financial models, and client presentations.
  • Maintain a good technical understanding of key sectors, including energy and water, as well as developments in regulatory and corporate finance.
  • Ensure KPMG's quality and risk management procedures are completed to the appropriate standard.
  • Perform performance management, coaching, and mentoring of team members.
  • Develop sector-specific market intelligence.
Requirements:
  • Significant experience in regulatory finance and corporate finance, ideally with experience in the water and energy sectors.
  • Strong theoretical understanding and practical knowledge of financial economics, including corporate finance.
  • Experience in financial analysis using core techniques and methodologies in corporate finance.
  • Understanding of changing market conditions and their impact on returns and companies' financial positions.
  • Skills in scenario modelling and quantification of financial risk and impacts on financial viability.
  • Understanding of core credit rating agency methodologies for utilities and typical capital structures and financing solutions in the sector.
  • Experience in investment appraisal, development/build of financial models, and analysis of hurdle rates.
  • General understanding of energy policy and economic regulation.
  • Track record of working in professional services, including leading a team and delivering advisory services.
  • Comfortable managing staff and stakeholders across a wide range of disciplines.
  • Understanding of key value drivers in utilities, including policy, regulation, financing, investments, and markets.
