Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to lead our HSE programs at our Derby site. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with HSE regulations, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar HSE management role. They will have in-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation, with specific experience in manual handling and HAVS management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, ensuring prompt corrective actions where necessary.
  • Manage and mentor the health and safety team, driving improvements across the Derby site.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance manual handling processes and manage risks related to hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS).
  • Chair the Health and Safety Committee, promoting employee engagement and driving continuous safety improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to meet sustainability targets, particularly in waste reduction and resource management.
  • Ensure thorough investigations of incidents and accidents, applying lessons learned across the site.

About You

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar HSE management role, ideally within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK HSE legislation, with specific experience in manual handling and HAVS management.
  • Proven ability to implement HSE systems and drive a strong safety culture.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
