Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Shorterm Group and contribute to the production of high-quality components. The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating CNC machines and programming machine controls, particularly utilizing Heidenhain and Fanuc control systems.

About the Role:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, turning, and grinding.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining operations and sequence of operations.
  • Program machine controls using Heidenhain and Fanuc control systems to execute machining tasks efficiently and accurately.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues with machines, tools, and programs, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machining processes and improve productivity.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming and operating CNC machines, particularly with Heidenhain and Fanuc control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is £40,508 per annum, based on industry standards and location. Additionally, benefits include 30 days holiday per annum, 1.5x overtime rate, and shift rates to be introduced in 2025.
