Manual Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team at Holt Engineering Recruitment Limited. The role is a critical part of our precision engineering company, which specialises in providing high-quality machined components to industries such as aerospace and defence.

Daily Responsibilities:
  • Operate manual lathes and mills with extensive use of XYZ machines.
  • Evaluate precise machining requirements and work to tight tolerances, producing excellent surface finishes both internally and externally.
  • Cut threads and spot-face on manual machines.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Inspect machined components using bore comparators, micrometers, vernier callipers, and air gauges effectively.
Assembly and Fitting Responsibilities:
  • Use hand tools and presses, and apply aerospace jointing compounds with full training provided if necessary.
  • Assemble components following strict schedules and detailed customer specifications.
  • Conduct pressure testing, beading, and part marking where needed.
Requirements:
  • Be adaptable to cover various departmental tasks, especially during single-point failures.
  • Hold experience within the aerospace sector and have a solid understanding of AS9100 standards and material traceability.
  • Further training will be provided for assembly-related tasks.
  • A time-served or apprentice-trained Manual Machinist with high-level experience in manual machining and fitting techniques is essential.
  • A competitive hourly rate of £16-18.50 is offered, commensurate with industry standards.
  • Flexible working hours are available, including a 4-day week option.
