Cloud-Native Engineering Director

A forward-thinking company in the City of London is seeking an experienced IT Development Manager with a background as a C# Developer to lead the development of their cloud-native application. The company offers a hybrid working model, allowing for 3 days per week in the office.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop and execute a cloud-native engineering roadmap, ensuring scalability, security, and performance of all core systems.
  • Collaborate with senior IT management and business stakeholders to define technical strategy and drive innovation.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of core frameworks and components that support the organisation's technology stack.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent, building a high-performing and motivated team.
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, best practices, and processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage technical risks and provide guidance on complex engineering challenges.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing and growing high-performing Microsoft engineering teams for 5 or more years.
  • Deep technical expertise in software engineering, with a focus on scalable and high-performance systems, having been a C# Developer at some point in the past.
  • Experience with Python and/or React/Angular.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in developing and executing technology strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms, microservices/component-based architecture, and modern software development tools and practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience managing budgets, resources, and timelines for engineering projects.
