SEN Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in a primary school with a dedicated unit for pupils with special educational needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children who require tailored support in their learning journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural challenges and complex needs.
  • Implement individual behaviour management and learning plans to ensure each student receives the support they need to thrive.
  • Build lasting connections with pupils, helping them develop social skills, resilience, and self-management techniques.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to maintain a consistent and supportive environment.
  • Track and adapt support strategies to meet the evolving needs of pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an SEN environment as an SEN Teaching Assistant or with students with behavioural needs is ideal.
  • A patient and calm approach to challenging situations, focusing on positive outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well within a team and liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to step in when needed and adapt to the demands of the day.
