About the Role

Scottish Friendly is seeking an experienced life insurance professional or recently qualified actuary to join our Actuarial Department as a Development Actuary (With-Profits). This is a unique opportunity to support the development of our society's strategy and contribute to the growth of our financial management approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management: Support ongoing activity relating to the financial management of our with-profits fund, including strategic initiatives, run-off plans, and financial management frameworks.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver forward-looking strategies and closely work with the Actuarial and Finance functions to ensure efficient management of the with-profits funds.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and efficiency gains in the with-profits business.
  • Capital Initiatives: Support the development and implementation of capital initiatives to drive business growth.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Produce proposals and reports relevant to the financial management of our with-profits business, including bonus recommendations and annual reports on compliance with our policies.
Requirements
  • Experience in life insurance, with a strong understanding of with-profits products and operations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and other departments.
  • RAFM modelling and SQL experience is preferred but not essential.
